Nippenose Valley Village was a unique and ambitious project where the owners possessed the extraordinary vision to convert a rural elementary school to a caring and active senior living community.  The biggest challenge facing this project was to transform an existing open-plan elementary school into residential apartments promoting safe and comfortable living conditions.

Though the exterior brick facade remained much the same, extensive renovations of the existing interior encompassed new plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work in addition to upgraded windows, new bedrooms with private bathrooms, communal kitchens and lounges, and numerous other improvements. Several additions included spaces for outdoor living, a pull-through entrance canopy, and space for future expansion.

As more school districts consolidate services, it is exciting to see the successful adaptive reuse of a large rural building such as Nipponese Valley Elementary.
